About First Children's Finance
First Children’s Finance, a nonprofit organization governed by national child care and business leaders was formed to meet the growing demand for quality early care and education, especially in low-income communities. For 16 years, FCF has actively engaged partners and collaborators to create, support and expand affordable, education-focused, safe and caring child care options for children, their families and communities. Founded as Development Corporation for Children, First Children’s Finance blends the principles of community development with expertise and an exclusive focus on the child care and early education industry.

Drawing upon past accomplishments and lessons, our approach to expanding quality child care and strengthening the child care industry combines:

  • Investments of capital and business expertise in child care and early education professionals, businesses and facilities;
  • Innovation, that is, to research, create, test and replicate effective child care and early education program models and business practices; and,
  • Infrastructure development, the set of resources, partnerships and systems that support the development of facilities, financing and industry-specific business consulting and training.

By financing child care facilities and operations, and helping child care professionals manage their businesses more effectively, First Children’s Finance strives to increase the availability, affordability, accessibility and quality of early care and education throughout the United States.
