 | Beans Plus, Inc. Relocates in North Mankato, MN with Loan from FCF
In February 2008, Bernadette Wilson, owner of Beans Plus, Inc., received financing from First Children's Finance to relocate her child care center in North Mankato, MN. Although Beans Plus had leased space from South Central College for a number of years, the college recently informed Ms. Wilson that it needed the space occupied by the center for offices.
Beans Plus was fortunate to find space at 1759 Commerce Drive in North Mankato less than a mile from South Central College. However, the business couldn’t handle the costs of relocating and setting up a new center by itself.
Beans Plus used a loan from FCF for leasehold improvements and to purchase equipment for the new facility in North Mankato. “Beans Plus has a very good reputation and is a well-run program,” said Mara O'Neill, FCF Economic Development Director. “First Children's Finance is proud to have helped Ms. Wilson move to her new location.”
The new Commerce Drive location will provide care for 12 toddlers and 20 preschoolers. Beans Plus will now be able to offer care to four infants as well. The old location at South Central College was not able to provide much needed infant care.
In addition to its North Mankato child care center, Beans Plus also provides quality child care in Hutchinson along with before and after school programs and summer care in both North Mankato and Hutchinson, and their surrounding areas.
