FCF Shares Tips for Engaging the Private Sector.

In all of its work, FCF seeks to build strategic opportunities for the private sector to get involved with the business of child care.  FCF's theory is that corporate volunteers have a lot to offer child care businesses.  The relationship can deepen the private sector volunteer's understanding of the systematic challenges that child care providers face, while enhancing the provider's business and management capacity.

Private sector volunteers can get involved in helping child care programs in a variety of ways:

  • Serving on the Board of Directors or an advisory committee
  • Volunteering for one-time fundraising campaigns
  • Working on "Done in a Day" physical improvement projects
  • Serving as speakers on the benefits of investment in Early Childhood Education

FCF's President and CEO, Jerry Cutts, joined Shanell Wagler of the Iowa Office of Empowerment, in delivering a workshop to child care resource and referral agencies at the Iowa statewide CCR&R conference in Des Moines, Iowa on September 20th.  As part of his remarks, Mr. Cutts shared some practical tips for successfully Engaging the Private Sector, which FCF's private sector advisors helped us develop.
