Q: What is Quality First?
A: Quality First is a special financing program designed to meet the needs of child care centers that are in the process of making quality improvements or expanding their facility.
Q: What are the components of a Quality First financing package?
A: Packages include a minimum loan of $25,000 plus an additional grant worth 10% of the loan amount up to a maximum grant of $5,000.
Q: Who qualifies for these packages?
A: Early Care and Education Centers that can demonstrate a commitment to quality care, serve children from low-income households, are in good standing with the state licensing agency and are at least two-years-old.
Q: How do I apply?
A: First, call us to discuss the type of project you need funded. We will mail out an application packet for you to complete. We will also provide assistance throughout the application process.
Q: What is the application deadline?
A: Quality First packages are only available for a limited time and to a limited number of centers. Applications are due December 31, 2008. Call us today to find out if we are still accepting applications or if the program will be renewed beyond that date.
Q: What if I need money but don’t qualify for a Quality First package?
A: First Children’s Finance offers loans ranging from $1,000 to $125,000 that can be used for any type of project. Call us to find out what kind of unique package we can put together for you.
Q: What if I need other help besides financing?
A: First Children’s Finance supports the business of child care. In addition to loans, we provide business training and technical assistance tailored specifically to child care leaders and providers. If you need help with accounting, human resources, marketing, legal concerns or other business issues, just give us a call – we’d love to work with you.
Q: Can for-profit centers qualify for the grant?
A: Yes, however the grant portion of the package must be claimed as revenue and will be reported on a 1099 form sent by First Children’s Finance.
Q: Will the program be renewed beyond December 31, 2008?
