Iowa State Child Care Advisory Committee Releases Issue Briefs

Iowa’s State Child Care Advisory Committee has released issue briefs highlighting three critical issues for child care. The Committee recommends:

  • Changes to child care assistance rate determinations,
  • Revising the regulatory system for home-based child care from a registration process to a licensing system, and
  • Reinvesting in the Iowa Quality Rating System.

According to Heidi Schlueter, First Children’s Finance Iowa Director and Committee member, “We hope child care businesses and advocates will read about these issues, ask questions, and use the briefs to help others better understand the needs. This is a great start to inspiring actions that support quality care for all children in Iowa.”
