Quality Family Child Care Program Launches in Southern Minnesota

First Children’s Finance (FCF), in partnership with Minnesota Licensed Family Child Care Association (MLFCCA), is excited to announce the Quality Family Child Care Program. Thanks to generous funding from Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, licensed family child care providers in Watonwan and Brown counties will have access to free training, consulting, and mentoring to improve their child care programs and strengthen their home-based businesses.

With Parent Aware rolling out to Watonwan and Brown counties this year and next, the Quality Family Child Care Program gives providers a running start and ensures that all of Minnesota’s children have access to high quality early care and education in a loving, home environment.

The Quality Family Child Care Program touches on all aspects of quality. On the business side, FCF offers three levels of support: training, one-to-one consulting, and — for select participants — an intensive business development program that includes implementation grants. On the program side, MLFCCA Mentors are highly-trained family providers that offer knowledge and resources to their mentees around curriculum, child care environments, parent/provider relationships, and Parent Aware standards. Providers are encouraged to engage in one or both of these options, depending on their needs.

The Quality Family Child Care Program kicks off on Saturday, February 16 in Watonwan County, and Saturday, February 23 in Brown County. Please contact Tez Gabriel for more information: tezikiah@firstchildrensfinance.org or 612-279-6528.
