Salary and Benefits:

The position

FCF is seeking multiple Business Development Specialists to join its growing team in Minnesota, which is expanding to serve more child care providers and more communities statewide. The Business Development Specialist position provides business and financial planning, consultation, training and support to early care and education providers; promotes FCF and its programs and services; and connects to a diverse group of FCF stakeholders, partners, and constituents. The Business Development Specialist works closely with the Business Development Managers and the Minnesota Director, along with other members of the Minnesota team to promote and ensure the effectiveness of FCF’s core programs, including: (1) consulting services and technical assistance to child care businesses; (2) training and education to a variety of audiences; and (3) facilitation of community engagement activities.

The Opportunity

FCF is looking to fill multiple positions in Greater Minnesota and the Twin Cities Metro Area. These positions are remote work opportunities, working from home with some in-person meetings required post-pandemic. This position may require regular travel locally as well as limited travel within Minnesota. Some evening hours may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Business Development Managers and Minnesota Director to develop, promote and implement programs, services, and resources to support the mission of FCF across the state
  • Provide training and consultation support to strengthen child care businesses
  • Provide individualized consulting services to both start-up and existing child care entrepreneurs, focusing on the business side of child care
  • Facilitate small-group and community engagement activities in support of FCF’s community-based programming
  • Participate in relevant local/regional stakeholder meetings and events
  • Input, manage and analyze financial and program data
  • Assist with program reporting as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Experience
  • Consulting, training, facilitation and/or public speaking
  • Working with small businesses, or experience owning/operating a small business
  • Direct experience with child care strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with communities of color and low-resourced communities
  • Familiarity with the State of Minnesota’s child care licensing regulations
  • Resource development/fundraising is a plus
Skills
  • Ability to provide business and financial consultation and training
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements and develop and manage budgets
  • Ability to think strategically and implement plans on the ground
  • Ability to promote a positive image of FCF and position FCF as a key resource in the field of early care and education
  • Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively with a diverse group of FCF staff, customers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Fluency in Spanish, Somali or Hmong is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision yet be a part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Minnesota when it is safe and advisable to do so
