Salary and Benefits:

Mission and Organizational Background

The mission of First Children’s Finance (FCF) is to grow the supply and business sustainability of excellent child care. Founded in 1991, FCF provides business and financial assistance to business owners and leaders in the field of Early Care and Education (ECE). To achieve our goals, FCF works on three levels: Individual Business Level, Community Level and Systems Level. FCF is a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Minneapolis that provides business development programs and/or financing to ECE providers in multiple states, with regional offices in three: Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan. FCF is seeking multiple Program Specialists to join its growing team in Minnesota, which is expanding to serve more child care providers and more communities statewide. The Program Specialist positions provide programmatic and administrative support to three core program areas: Community Programs, Training, and BIPOC Programs.

FCF is seeking candidates from both Greater Minnesota and the Twin Cities Metro Area. These positions are remote work opportunities, working from home with some in-person meetings required as pandemic conditions allow. This position may require regular travel within Minnesota. Some evening hours will be required.

  • Work with the Business Development Managers, Business Development Specialists and Minnesota Director to promote and implement programs, services, and resources to support the mission of FCF across the state
  • Manage scheduling, logistics, outreach and communication for in-person and virtual training and community events; responsible for reporting event attendance
  • Manage updates and distribution of handouts, toolkits and other program-related materials
  • Support gathering, management and evaluation of program-related and event-related data
  • Support program outreach and communications efforts via participant recruitment; supporting content development for print, online and social media platforms; support to regional/stakeholder child care-related events
  • Coordinate with FCF Central Office staff related to invoicing, consultant/interpreter management and other administrative processes
  • Assist with program reporting as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in an administrative or support role, preferably in a nonprofit, social service or small business setting
  • Experience in communications/content development preferred
  • Direct experience with child care strongly preferred
  • Experience working collaboratively with communities of color and low-resourced communities
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks on multiple deadlines
  • Fluency in Spanish, Somali or Hmong is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to promote a positive image of FCF and position FCF as a key resource in the field of early care and education
  • Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively with a diverse group of FCF staff, customers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision yet be a part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Minnesota as needed
