Training / Resources for Child Care Providers
FCF offers numerous training and resource opportunities for child care centers and home-based child care providers. In every case, the goal is to make businesses successful and sustainable.
Oregon 2024/2025 Trainings:

Business Leadership Cohorts:
To provide hands-on assistance to groups of child care entrepreneurs, First Children’s Finance convenes Business Leadership Cohorts that bring together similar-sized child care businesses in a peer group and match the group with FCF-led training, consultation, coaching, and technical assistance.
These sessions offer the opportunity to learn the basics of running a child care business. Participants learn about the child care business model, the importance of managing enrollment, and developing policies and procedures to improve financial performance. FCF staff provide a thorough financial analysis of business operations with recommendations for improvements.

First Children’s Finance, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care, has developed funding program resources packed with tips and tricks to help providers prepare for participation in Oregon’s public funding programs. These resources will help provide a clear understanding of Employment Related Day Care, Preschool Promise, and Baby Promise through comprehensive program overviews. Additionally, the self-assessment tools will help gauge your readiness to participate in these programs, ensuring you are well-prepared to secure and optimize public funding for your child care business.

Help Shape the Future of Child Care in Oregon!
First Children’s Finance is seeking your insights to better understand the health of Oregon’s child care businesses. We want to understand the financial and operational challenges and opportunities facing your business. Please share your experiences and opinions related to workforce, facilities, funding, and more in our short survey. Your insight will help us identify areas where additional business support is needed and inform our programs and initiatives across the state. Navigating the Early Years: Focus Groups for New Child Care Business Owners in Oregon
If you started a new child care business in Oregon in the last two years, we want to hear from you!
First Children’s Finance is hosting focused sessions to hear from child care entrepreneurs about the experience of starting a child care business in Oregon. Insights from these sessions will be used to inform recommendations made to state officials about how to better support child care business owners in the critical years after launch.
Dates: October 21, October 23, 2024
Time: 6-7 pm PST
Compensation: $25 via mailed check (Attestation required agreeing to spend funds on allowable items.)
